Ümit Özdağ visits Özgür Özel and explains why he did not attend the Saraçhane rally

Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, and Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere were detained in a dawn operation yesterday morning. Böcek was arrested yesterday evening.

As the operations targeting CHP municipalities dominated the public agenda, Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ paid a support visit to CHP leader Özgür Özel.

Following the closed-door meeting at the CHP Headquarters, both leaders made statements to journalists. CHP leader Özel thanked Özdağ for his visit.

"CONTRARY TO THE NATURAL FLOW OF LIFE"

Özdağ stated that the application of enemy criminal law continues. "It is contrary to the natural flow of life that corruption investigations are only taking place in CHP-run municipalities," said Özdağ, expressing his reaction to the fact that investigations are being conducted solely through CHP municipalities.

ÖZEL'S REACTION TO MUHİTTİN BÖCEK

Speaking after Özdağ, Özel reacted to the arrest of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek. Özel stated, “Muhittin Böcek was arrested on the basis of an empty file. This arrest is a punishment for Antalya.”

ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ'S STATEMENT ON SARAÇHANE

The two leaders then answered questions from journalists. Ümit Özdağ explained the reason why his party did not participate in the rally in Saraçhane with the following words:

"I requested in writing that party organizations not attend due to the anticipation of provocation. I could have done it verbally, but I intentionally requested it in writing. In an environment where the prosecutor's office is blatantly providing misleading information to the court regarding the events I recently tried to calm down in Kayseri, we are trying to keep everything under control by putting it in writing."
