Unexpected crisis in Yeni Parti before the convention: Is the name changing?

Yeni Parti is facing the possibility of a name change before it has even held its first ordinary convention. The process was initiated following an application to the Court of Cassation by Yenilik Partisi Chairman Öztürk Yılmaz, citing name similarity between the two parties.

Following the review conducted by the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation, it will become clear whether Yeni Parti will continue with its current name. It has been learned that the party leadership has been informed about the application and that the review is expected to be completed within 1-2 months.

PARTY LEADERSHIP PREFERS THE CURRENT NAME

According to information reported by CNN Türk, the Yeni Parti leadership is in favor of maintaining the current party name at this stage. It is stated that in the event of a potential decision for a name change, the change could be made by the founders' board without the need to hold an extraordinary convention.

It is stated that the party leadership's primary approach is to continue its path under the name Yeni Parti without making any changes.

CLAIMS OF AN ALTERNATIVE NAME IN THE LOBBIES

On the other hand, it has been claimed in political circles that discussions were held with Yenilik Partisi regarding the name and that the name "Değişim Partisi" (Change Party) has come to the agenda as an alternative. However, it was noted that the party leadership is not currently considering a name change.
