In addition to the rapid spread of the new Covid-19 variant called JN.1, scientists have also begun to notice some unexpected symptoms. The latest data from December 2023, published by the UK Office for National Statistics, shows the most frequently reported symptoms of Covid-19 among survey participants. The most commonly reported symptoms among people infected with this variant include runny nose, cough, headache, weakness or fatigue, muscle aches, sore throat, sleep problems, and anxiety.

Among these symptoms are signs such as sleep problems and anxiety, which were not previously associated with Covid-19 or were less common. Furthermore, it is noted that loss of taste and smell, although once considered a hallmark symptom of Covid-19, is reported at a lower rate among people infected with this new variant.
