The woman, who suffered fractures in her back, described the terrifying moments she experienced, saying, "I heard a noise, and before I could understand what was happening, I found myself under the vehicle. I didn't even have a chance to escape."
The accident took place in Tuzla on February 11, 2025. According to allegations, the 14-year-old unlicensed driver lost steering control shortly after setting out with friends. The vehicle struck Meral Bilgin Kaydan, who was sitting on a bench in front of a business, pinning her underneath. Following reports of the incident, health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The woman was extracted from under the vehicle after a rescue operation lasting approximately 1.5 hours and was taken to the hospital. The unlicensed driver was detained but later released. The moment of the accident was captured on security cameras.
'I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CHANCE TO ESCAPE'
The unfortunate woman, who suffered fractures in her back, crushing injuries to her legs, and bruises on various parts of her body as a result of the accident, described the terrifying moments she lived as follows: Stating that she was working at a busy pace on the day of the incident and was sitting on the bench to rest for a while, Meral Bilgin Kaydan said, "A few minutes later, I heard a loud noise. Before I could understand what was happening, I found myself under the vehicle. I didn't even have a chance to escape. When I opened my eyes, I felt a great pressure on me; I heard people shouting, but I don't remember most of it. When the rescue teams arrived, my left side was completely numb. The vehicle was sitting on my body, and my neck was trapped under the wheel. It took them about 1.5 hours to get me out with the help of a crane and an excavator."
'I HAVE A FRACTURE IN MY BACK AND SWELLING ON MY HEAD'
Kaydan, who experienced great shock after the accident, said the following about her health condition: "I have serious crushing injuries on my right leg and I am experiencing a loss of strength. I have fractures in my back and bruises on my hip. There is swelling on the back of my head due to the impact. X-rays have been taken for this, and we are waiting for the clear results." The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
