Famous singer Mabel Matiz is facing charges of "mediating the publication of obscene content" following an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to the lyrics of his song "Perperişan." The prepared indictment alleges that the song is sexually provocative and contains erotic connotations.

The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office points out that the lyrics of the song "Perperişan" explicitly describe sexual intercourse through physical and spiritual metaphors, and therefore pose a danger to public order and the protection of children. The fact that no age restriction was imposed after the song was released on social media and digital platforms was cited among the reasons why the song is considered dangerous.

The indictment further states that the publication of the song on platforms accessible to children has led to the qualified form of the charges against Mabel Matiz. It was emphasized that the lyrics of the song could create negative effects, especially on young individuals.

STATEMENT FROM MABEL MATİZ: "MY INTENTION WAS NOT TO COMMIT A CRIME"

In his statement against the allegations, Mabel Matiz stated that he used the lyrics to send a message to the home of the person he loves. Arguing that the lyrics "Diyo şeytan üstüne atla da sal kuşu hanesine" carry the meaning of "sending a message to their home," Matiz stated that the phrase "Cici Toybebe" used in the song's content was used to express the person he loves in a more naive way.

REQUEST FOR UP TO 3 YEARS IN PRISON

Evaluating all the evidence, the public prosecutor requested that Mabel Matiz be sentenced to 6 months to 3 years in prison for the crime of "mediating the publication of obscene content."
