Up to 7 years and 4 months in prison sought for Ekrem İmamoğlu!

An indictment has been prepared against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu due to his remarks regarding Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. A prison sentence of up to 7 years and 4 months has been requested for İmamoğlu.

The Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared the indictment against İmamoğlu on charges of 'targeting individuals involved in the fight against terrorism, defamation, and threats.' In line with these allegations, a prison sentence ranging from 2 years and 8 months to 7 years and 4 months has been requested for IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In the indictment prepared based on the statements made by İmamoğlu, Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek is listed with the status of 'victim.' The indictment states that criminal elements were identified in the remarks made by İmamoğlu regarding Akın Gürlek during a panel discussion he attended. It was noted that Gürlek, who previously served as a presiding judge in high criminal courts tasked with handling terrorism cases, has been targeted by terrorist organizations.
