US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has raised $540 million for her election campaign since she became a candidate on July 21.

According to a report by The Hill, Harris's campaign chair, Jen O'Malley Dillon, made a statement following the Democratic National Convention held in Chicago.

Dillon announced that the amount of donations raised by Harris during the 4-day convention increased by $82 million, reaching a total of $540 million.

Stating that there was a significant increase in the number of donors during the convention, Dillon noted that 200,000 new volunteers have registered for the campaign since the convention began.

Dillon mentioned that one-third of the donations came from first-time donors, and that teachers and nurses were among the professional groups that donated the most.

RAISED $81 MILLION IN THE FIRST 24 HOURS

The Democratic National Convention was held in Chicago from August 19-22.

Following President Joe Biden's endorsement of her candidacy for the presidential election, Harris raised $81 million in the first 24 hours, which was recorded as the highest amount of donations ever reached in a single day.

In the US presidential election process, the amount of donations collected and the number of donors are closely monitored as they provide insight into the election results.
