This move by Washington comes at a time when it is accelerating its efforts to economically isolate Tehran.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated in a press release, "Financial institutions are beginning to see that we are serious about Operation Economic Exclusion."

Bessent added, "We hope we do not have to sanction more banks, but that depends on how quickly the international community comes to its senses and cuts off its support for the murderous Iranian regime."

The US Treasury's statement also noted that Golden Global Asset Leasing and Portfolio Management has been included in the sanctions, requesting that transactions with these companies be halted by September 19.
