Üsküdar Municipality seals Medipol Hospital construction site owned by former AKP minister Koca: Land was donated by a citizen for a school!
Üsküdar Municipality, which passed from the AKP to the CHP, has sealed the construction site of Medipol Hospital, founded by former Health Minister and AKP member Fahrettin Koca. It has emerged that the land was donated by a citizen in 1994 specifically for the construction of a school.

In Üsküdar, which passed from the AKP to the CHP in the March 31 Local Elections, the construction site of Medipol Hospital, founded by former Health Minister and AKP member Fahrettin Koca, has been sealed, following previous actions against religious sect and community dormitories.
According to reports by İsmail Arı from BirGün, a zoning plan had been prepared by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for Medipol University. The Ministry had converted a 4,164-square-meter area located right next to the Medipol University Çamlıca Hospital from a residential and secondary education facility area into a “higher education facility area.”
The zoning plan report stated that the plan change was made for Medipol University.
The construction conditions for the area were set as ground floor plus 5 stories. The 12th Administrative Court of Istanbul, upon the application of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), decided to cancel the zoning plans on January 31, 2024.
It was also learned that the construction was halted and sealed by the CHP-run Üsküdar Municipality. Üsküdar Municipality officials confirmed the incident.
DONATED TO BE A SCHOOL
The land had previously caused controversy. A citizen named Emre Özipek had filed a lawsuit, stating that the area currently used as a parking lot by Medipol had been donated to the public by his father for the purpose of building a school.

The Provincial Directorate of National Education requested the dismissal of the case, claiming that the plot was being used as the garden for the Henza Akın Çolakoğlu Anatolian Imam Hatip High School and that a 32-classroom annex building would be constructed on the land. As part of the lawsuit, an expert report was prepared after a site inspection was conducted by a civil engineer and a legal expert. The report emphasized that the statement by the Directorate of National Education did not reflect the truth and that the plot was being used as a parking lot by Medipol University Çamlıca Hospital.
The investigation into the construction in question is ongoing.
