Van Governor's Office announces 3-day protest ban

Demonstrations and marches have been banned in Van for 3 days.

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ANNOUNCED

In a statement issued by the Governor's Office, it was reported that all kinds of events such as demonstrations, marches, rallies, meetings, setting up tents, and sit-in protests to be held between December 5-7 have been banned in order to prevent potential incidents and to ensure the safety of citizens' lives and property. The following statements were included in the Governor's Office announcement:

*To prevent actions and attacks that are considered to directly and clearly create the conditions for limitation and prohibition stipulated in our Constitution and laws,

*To ensure the life and property safety of our citizens, to thwart the plans of terrorist organizations, to ensure national security, to protect public order and security, and to prevent the commission of crimes,

*In order to protect fundamental rights and freedoms, the rights and freedoms of others, and general public order, and to prevent the spread of violence, all kinds of marches, meetings and gatherings, press statements, sit-in protests, setting up stands, etc., to be organized by real and legal persons in open areas within the geographical boundaries of Van province for a period of 3 days, including December 5-7, 2023, excluding official celebrations and other events organized by public institutions and organizations, provided that necessary security measures are taken and the Governor's Office and district governorships are informed, have been banned between the specified dates in accordance with the provisions of Article 11/A-C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442.
