It has been revealed that vehicles that were heavily damaged after being trapped under rubble in the earthquake zone were put on the market after their engine and chassis numbers were altered. An operation was carried out against a gang that offered these vehicles for sale by copying the numbers onto cars brought from abroad. 15 people were detained.

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Smuggling Bureau, it was determined that the registration documents and chassis numbers of vehicles that were trapped under rubble in the earthquake zone, burned and heavily damaged, or rendered unusable as a result of traffic accidents were altered.

In the investigation, it was noted that the chassis numbers of vehicles entering Turkey through the Sarp Border Gate from Georgia and the Kapıkule Border Gate from Bulgaria by foreign nationals were copied and transferred to the damaged vehicles. In the studies carried out, it was determined that the chassis numbers of the incoming vehicles were changed with those of the damaged vehicles by pouring chemical liquid.

THEY DID IT TO 25 VEHICLES!

It was determined that the suspects performed the said copying process on 25 vehicles, marketed and sold the vehicles on websites through an auto gallery they acted in concert with, and obtained 40 million liras in illicit profit through this method.

15 suspects were caught in operations organized by the Ankara Public Security Branch Office Auto Theft Bureau teams in Ankara, Istanbul, Bursa, Tokat, and Trabzon. During the raids on the addresses, 5 unlicensed pistols were seized.
