Verdict announced in the Bora Kaplan case
The verdict in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan organized crime group case has been announced. The court sentenced Bora Kaplan to 10 years in prison and ordered his continued detention. The court ruled for the release of defendant Ersoy Yahya with a travel ban. Former lawyer Mahmut Gökhan Çanga, who was accused of killing Semih Arslan, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for membership in an organization and was also released with a travel ban.

The verdict in the Bora Kaplan criminal organization case has been announced. When Bora Kaplan arrived in the courtroom, he called out to his relatives, "Don't be sad, don't be sad. What kind of sentence can they possibly give?"
When the gendarmerie warned him to "Sit down," Kaplan reacted by saying, "What is it? The dishonesty they are committing will surely end one day."
The panel in the Bora Kaplan case took their seats at 09:35. The prosecutor provided an opinion that the requests by the defendants and their lawyers to expand the prosecution should be rejected on the grounds that they were intended to prolong the trial.
The court decided to reject all requests, including the hearing of Süleyman Soylu's cousin Sadık Soylu and nephew Fatih Soylu as witnesses.
Former AKP Ankara provincial deputy chairman Barış Kurt, appearing tearful, said, "I want to see that I am being tried in a court of the Republic of Turkey, not another country."
Bora Kaplan's final words were tumultuous. The presiding judge had Kaplan removed from the courtroom. Kaplan shouted, "I'm leaving, damn it, I'm leaving!"
VERDICT ANNOUNCED
Barış Kurt and several other defendants were acquitted and ordered to be released.

In the Bora Kaplan case, 13 out of 17 detained defendants were released.
For Bora Kaplan, two life sentences, one of which was aggravated, had been requested.

Following the announcement of the verdicts, Bora Kaplan's mother shouted at the court panel, "May God burn your heart too."
