Verdict reached for lawyer Cemalettin Mutlu, named in the 'football match-fixing conspiracy' case!

The trial of Lawyer Cemalettin Mutlu, who was alleged to be part of FETÖ's legal structure and was a defendant in the 'football match-fixing conspiracy' case, has been concluded.

The hearing held at the Istanbul 23rd High Criminal Court was attended by the defendant Cemalettin Mutlu, who is being tried without arrest, and his lawyer. The lawyer for the complainant, Fenerbahçe Sports Club, also attended the hearing.

"IT BOTHERS ME TO BE CALLED A TERRORIST"

In his defense at the hearing, defendant Mutlu stated, ''I made a one-time sacrificial donation to the 'Kimse Yok Mu' association; people who donated millions of dollars are in other places today. We saw in this indictment that it is a crime for someone using ByLock to call an ordinary citizen. It bothers me to be called a terrorist; I did not deserve this. I was one of the 5 lawyers when Öcalan was captured, while everyone else was shrinking away. We also undertook the legal representation of martyrs' families,'' he said.

7 YEARS AND 6 MONTHS PRISON SENTENCE

Announcing its verdict, the court sentenced defendant Mutlu to 7 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of 'membership in an armed terrorist organization' and decided to continue the judicial control measure of a travel ban against him.

FROM THE INDICTMENT

The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office noted that suspect Cemalettin Mutlu had been among the suspect lawyers since the first FETÖ operations, that he had contact with the organization's secret imams, lawyers Faik Toklucu and Alaeddin Yüksel Bulut, via telephone lines in his use, and that communication records with ByLock users were detected.

In the prepared indictment, it was requested that suspect Mutlu be sentenced to between 7 and a half and 15 years in prison for the crime of 'membership in an armed terrorist organization.'
