New developments have emerged in the case of former national football player Serhat Akın, who was injured in an armed attack in Beykoz, Istanbul. In the trial held at the Anatolian 23rd High Criminal Court, where a total of 7 defendants, one of whom is a fugitive, are being tried, the court panel decided to release detained defendants İriş Torun and Yunus Görecek.
During the hearing, defendant İriş Torun made a striking statement while describing the events of the day. Torun said, "I picked up Osman and Ozan from Aydos and took them to Esenyalı. We drank alcohol together, then went home. A while later, Osman left the house, and when he returned, he had a bag full of money. When I asked where the money came from, he said, 'We shot a man.' I thought he was joking. Osman and Ozan split the money between them."
SERHAT AKIN: I AM FILING A COMPLAINT
Speaking about his health condition following the attack, Serhat Akın stated that the incident occurred after a live broadcast he made on social media, saying, "It is unclear whether I will be able to walk as I used to. I am a person who has served this country. May God not let anyone experience what I have been through in the last 3 months. I am filing a complaint against the defendants."
COURT DECISION ON RELEASE AND ARREST WARRANT
The court panel decided to release İriş Torun and Yunus Görecek while ruling for the continued detention of the other three defendants. It was stated that the arrest warrant issued for the fugitive defendant Hasan Şahin remains in effect. The hearing was adjourned to a later date.
