Veteran journalist Savaş Kıratlı passes away at 84

A respected figure in the Ankara press, Deputy President of the Journalists Association and veteran journalist Savaş Kıratlı has passed away at the age of 84. Kıratlı, who had been receiving treatment in the hospital for some time due to COPD, was admitted to intensive care on Friday, August 30, due to multiple organ failure. However, despite all the efforts of the doctors, he lost his life this afternoon.

The news of Savaş Kıratlı's passing was met with deep sadness in the press community. The Journalists Association announced Kıratlı's death to its members with the following message:

"We have lost our esteemed elder, Deputy President of our Association, and veteran journalist Savaş Kıratlı. Our grief is profound. We extend our condolences to his family and our community. WHO IS SAVAŞ KIRATLI?

After serving as an executive for many years at the Voice of Turkey Radio, he worked as a news manager, deputy head, and head at the TRT News Department and the External Broadcasting Department. He retired in 1996 while serving as the Head of the TRT External Broadcasting Department.

Savaş Kıratlı, who had been a member of the Journalists Association since 1967, served as Financial Secretary, General Secretary, Vice President, and Deputy President on the Board of Directors during this time. A holder of the Press Honor Card, Savaş Kıratlı was married and a father of one and a grandfather of one.
