16-year-old Zeynep Nas Sarıkaya was critically injured: Footage emerges of the accident caused by an unlicensed driver in Bursa

Footage has been obtained of the accident in Bursa in which 16-year-old Zeynep Nas Sarıkaya was critically injured. The 18-year-old driver, who fled the scene before turning himself in to the police, has been arrested.

The incident occurred on September 9, 2024, on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Boulevard in the Nilüfer district. Efe Ş. (18), who was driving his father's luxury pick-up truck, allegedly accelerated to avoid a red light. During this time, the young driver struck 16-year-old Zeynep Nas Sarıkaya, who was attempting to cross the street.

The girl was thrown by the impact and critically injured, while the driver fled the scene. Bystanders rushed to help the injured girl and contacted 112 emergency services. Sarıkaya, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition by medical teams, was placed under treatment at a private hospital. After Efe Ş. turned himself in at the police station a short time later and was released under judicial control by the prosecutor's office, the pain of the family, who were waiting hopefully in front of the hospital, was compounded.

UNLICENSED DRIVER ARRESTED

Efe Ş., who was taken into custody by teams from the Bursa Provincial Police Department's Nilüfer District Police Department, was arrested by the duty magistrate on charges of "causing injury resulting in life-threatening danger through conscious negligence."

Footage of the moment of the accident has emerged, involving the driver who turned himself in after fleeing the police and was subsequently arrested by the court. In the footage, it can be seen that the young girl was using the crosswalk with her friend when Efe Ş., who was approaching at high speed, struck Zeynep Nas Sarıkaya.
