Six suspects detained in operations against the terrorist organizations ISIS and the PKK in Mersin have been arrested.

According to the information received, teams from the Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch conducted an investigation to uncover the actions and activities of members of the ISIS terrorist organization.

It was determined that the identified suspects had previously operated as armed militants, acted in line with the organization's ideology to recruit members for conflict zones, and facilitated the illegal border crossings of individuals affiliated with the organization.

Based on the information obtained, a simultaneous operation was carried out 4 days ago at dawn, involving 152 police officers, including special operations units, and drone support. Searches were conducted at several addresses entered using battering rams, and 8 suspects were detained. 21 thousand 500 Syrian pounds, 800 euros, 23 thousand 100 dollars, and numerous organizational materials were seized from the detained suspects.

The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the courthouse. Of the suspects brought before the court, 5 were arrested, and 3 were released under judicial control conditions.

Within the scope of the investigation aimed at uncovering the financial activities of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization, suspect F.A. was also captured in an operation. Following the procedures at the police station, the captured suspect was referred to judicial authorities and was arrested for being a member of the PKK terrorist organization and sent to prison.
