While reactions to the 30 percent raise poured in, Experimental Medicine Specialist Prof. Dr. Oytun Erbaş used controversial expressions during a television program he attended.

Speaking to Buket Aydın, Erbaş stated, "A poor life is the healthiest life."

As Erbaş's scandalous words became a hot topic, Halk TV Main News Bulletin anchor Ece Üner gave a harsh response.

Üner used the following expressions:

"A poor life is the healthiest life. After the minimum wage was announced, he said, ‘There is protein in dried beans, and there is protein in meat. You need to learn humility.’ He said, ‘If the minimum wage were 50 liras, people would still spend 50. There is no end to this.’ Such an unconsciousness that praises poverty has appeared on TV screens. If we weren't in Turkey, it might have been enjoyable to listen to. We would have laughed, too. However, because we live in Turkey, such an unconsciousness that praises poverty appearing on TV screens could result in the next stage being a sermon given by the President of Religious Affairs saying, ‘Those who die of hunger go to heaven.’ Since he said the poorest life is the healthiest life, I wish a very healthy life for him, Oytun Erbaş."

Ece Üner concluded her remarks by referencing the famous line of Demet Evgar, who brings the character of Bahar to life, saying, "Don't talk nonsense, surgeon."
