Accident site on the Northern Marmara Motorway captured from the air

The site of the accident on the Sakarya section of the Northern Marmara Motorway, where 10 people lost their lives and 59 were injured, has been captured from the air. Meanwhile, it has been learned that the drivers of 6 of the vehicles involved in the accident have been taken into custody.

The accident occurred at around 04:45 in the Taşkısığı area of the Sakarya section of the Northern Marmara Motorway. In the region where dense fog was effective, 7 vehicles, including 3 buses and a truck, were involved in a chain-reaction accident.

Upon notification to the 112 Emergency Call Center, numerous health, fire, gendarmerie, and highway teams were dispatched to the region. Transportation on the Istanbul-bound side of the motorway came to a halt due to the accident. Teams reaching the area mobilized to assist citizens who were trapped and injured in the vehicles.

The injured who were trapped in the vehicles were extracted by the teams.

The injured, who received initial intervention at the scene, were taken to the hospital. In the accident, 10 citizens lost their lives, and 59 people were injured. It was learned that 1 of the injured is in critical condition.

The accident site was also captured from the air by drone. It was reported that 3 public prosecutors have been assigned to the investigation regarding the accident.

6 DRIVERS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

While the investigation into the incident continues, the drivers of 6 of the vehicles involved in the accident have been taken into custody.
