İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener visited the İYİ Party Çanakkale Provincial Headquarters before her organization meeting in Çanakkale. İYİ Party Çanakkale MP Rıdvan Uz, İYİ Party Çanakkale Provincial Chair Selahattin Yıldızlar, and party members were present during the visit.
Speaking to members of the press during the visit, İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener said, “Our General Administrative Board has made a decision. Within the framework of this decision, we are announcing mayoral candidates in almost every part of Turkey, in 46 locations. I am personally going to provinces and metropolitan cities to announce them.
At the same time, there is a conversation with our organizations. Because I spent 2.5 years constantly visiting tradespeople, together with my friends.
We wanted the voter, the nation, to be the benefactor in Turkey. We did not want them to be pitted against each other based on their values or beliefs. If we are in a system where we encounter housewives, students, people working in agriculture, our villagers who make a living through farming, the industrialists or farmers who bring goods to the tradespeople, or anyone you can think of inside a tradesman's shop,” she said.
"THE END OF THE ROPE HAS BEEN LOST IN TURKEY"
Evaluating the visit paid to her by Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, Akşener said, “Mr. Mansur Yavaş made a courtesy visit. I thank him. He also brought the greetings of their Chair, Mr. Özgür Özel.
Other than this, there is no other situation. I would like to say this, I saw it by chance in some media outlets. There is absolutely no such thing as an ugly attitude having formed. Mr. Mansur Yavaş, I repeat, made a courtesy visit.
It is called a courtesy visit for a reason. He brought the greetings of their own Chair. Therefore, it is news that saddens all of us in such a situation. The end of the rope has been lost in Turkey. How can an ugly behavior be displayed toward a guest, a person who is making a courtesy visit? I would like to correct that. There is definitely no such thing,” she said.
"DECENCY, MODESTY, AND A SENSE OF MORALITY ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN POLITICS"
Making statements regarding the allegations made by Sakarya MP Ümit Dikbayır, Akşener said, “First of all, I would like to express that I am very saddened. I have a principle. I have taken care not to speak about our friends who have left our party or resigned until today. I have also taken care to ensure that our friends do not speak either.
Because a resignation is a list, you either have a Chair or you hold a primary, and your members or delegates make a list. Either the Chair makes that list, or as in some of our cities, our members make it. Now, therefore, the responsibility, despite everything, belongs to the voters of that city. That is the area where explanations will be made. That is also the place where accounts will be settled or where reconciliation will take place.
Therefore, because I believe in this, I have never lost my courtesy. Even though I have been subjected to very ugly and unfair accusations from time to time. However, something interesting is happening this period. And that is this. We made a decision with our General Administrative Board. That decision was to enter the election freely and independently. To nominate candidates in all 81 provinces of Turkey.
Since that day, both the areas we would define as opposition media and the pro-government media are both firing at us. So, first of all, this. It is very interesting. I don't know which corns we are stepping on. I really don't know. Because this party was founded to govern this country, and it has reached these days by struggling a lot, facing many uglinesses, many slanders, many filth, and even threats.
Now, I didn't watch it yesterday, but the interpretation I draw from what was summarized to me by our friends is this, I express that I am very saddened. I really express that I am very saddened. What I will say is this. This is a process where the people named by the relevant claimant are going to court, saying these are slanders.
Therefore, in a process where this relevant friend has also been referred to discipline with a request for expulsion with precautionary measures, I can only say this in terms of law. It is not possible for me to construct a more detailed sentence. But I say it again. Decency, modesty, and a sense of morality are very important in politics,” she stated.
