CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır reacted sharply during a live broadcast on Halk TV to allegations that 1 million TL was transferred to Berkay Gezgin from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) accounts.

Targeting journalist Cem Küçük, who put forward the claim, Başarır said, "Cem Küçük made the slander that '1 million TL was transferred to Berkay Gezgin from İBB accounts'." Sharing the bank account statements belonging to Berkay Gezgin during the live broadcast, Başarır emphasized that the payments in question were entirely personal.

"Ekrem Bey sent a scholarship of 1000 TL from his own account every month; in other years, this amount became 1500, 2000 TL. Isn't this slander against a 22-year-old youth?" Başarır asked, also questioning why no investigation had been launched into the matter.

Stating that the public must be informed correctly, Başarır said that such allegations made through a young individual do not align with political ethics.
