Ali Yerlikaya Announces: 25 Suspects Detained

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided information regarding the 'Sibergöz-8' operations, which were carried out in 8 provinces centered in Istanbul and 2 provinces centered in Kastamonu, targeting qualified fraud committed using information systems. He announced that 25 suspects were detained as part of the operation.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement on his social media account, provided information about the 'Sibergöz-8' operations, which were carried out simultaneously in Istanbul, Muğla, Kocaeli, Siirt, Ankara, Antalya, Çanakkale, and Erzincan under the coordination of the Cybercrime Combat Department, as well as in Kastamonu and Mersin by the Kastamonu Cybercrime Combat Branch Directorate.

Sharing that they obtained 211 thousand 500 dollars in illicit gains from the people they defrauded during the operations, Yerlikaya stated the following:

"It has been determined that these suspects called citizens and introduced themselves as 'Investment Consultants,' defrauded these individuals by promising high returns through Forex investments, obtained 211 thousand 500 dollars in illicit gains from the people they defrauded, obtained bank or credit cards and GSM numbers belonging to others, and used the accounts and GSM lines they obtained for illegal betting transactions."

Minister Yerlikaya announced that during the searches conducted as part of the operation, handguns, 338 thousand Turkish Liras and 22 thousand 400 dollars in cash, numerous digital materials, laptops, a series of mobile phones, and SIM cards were seized.
