Başarır reacts to removal of CHP sign with 'Kenan Evren' comparison: 'I am speaking to the name in the Palace'

CHP members who wanted to enter the Esenyurt Municipal Council were met with a trustee blockade and were not allowed inside. The CHP Group Meeting Room sign at the municipality was also removed. CHP's Ali Mahir Başarır reacted harshly to those images.

Ahmet Özer, who was elected mayor by receiving the votes of 228 thousand voters in Esenyurt, was detained in a raid on his home on Wednesday morning and was arrested at midnight.

Can Aksoy, who was brought from the Beyoğlu District Governorship to the Istanbul Deputy Governorship, was appointed as a trustee to replace Özer.

While reactions to the appointment of the trustee continue, CHP members of the Esenyurt Municipality were not allowed into the municipality this morning. The CHP Group Meeting Room sign at the municipality was also removed.

PUT BACK UP

The sign was put back in its place a short while later amidst slogans of "Esenyurt belongs to the people, it will remain with the people," "We will win by resisting," and "The trustee will go, Mayor Ahmet will come."

HARSH REACTION FROM CHP'S BAŞARIR

Sharing the footage of the moment the sign was removed, Ali Mahir Başarır gave a striking example referencing Kenan Evren.

Başarır made the following statement:

"I am speaking to that appointed deputy governor who is now a trustee, to the Minister of Interior who gives him orders, and to the name in the Palace who gives orders to that Minister of Interior:

Do not even think about touching the sign of our 101-year-old party, founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, ever again!

In this country, no one other than Kenan Evren has ever attempted to remove this sign, however;

Erdoğan, you possess a worse mindset than even Kenan Evren!"
