Breaking News... Tense hours at CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters: This is how citizens breached the barriers

Following the Istanbul Governor's Office's decision to impose a three-day protest ban, the area around the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters was blockaded by thousands of police officers. While entrances and exits were closed off with barricades, some citizens managed to overcome the obstacles and reach the provincial building.

Hours before Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a temporary trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters by court order, was set to arrive at the provincial building, the Istanbul Governor's Office issued a decision for a 3-day protest ban in 5 districts of Istanbul.

The decision went into effect shortly after. The CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters and its surroundings were blockaded by thousands of police officers. Entrances and exits were blocked with barricades.

CITIZENS BREACHED THE BARRICADES

Following the call from CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, thousands of citizens wanted to come to the front of the provincial building. The police attempted to block access with barricades set up in the area.

However, some citizens managed to overcome the established obstacles and succeeded in reaching the provincial building.
