On September 23, around 17:00, citizens who called the police in the Akfırat neighborhood of Tuzla reported a corpse in a vacant lot with its legs sticking out and the rest buried underground. Police who arrived at the scene encountered a chilling incident.
KILLED BY A BROKEN NECK
The body, partially buried in the ground, was sent to the Council of Forensic Medicine to identify the victim and obtain information on how they were killed. Investigations revealed that the body, estimated to have been there for 1 week, had been beaten and killed by having its neck broken.
IDENTIFIED BY FINGERPRINTS
In the work initiated by the Public Security Branch Directorate's Murder Bureau, the identity of the body was investigated first. Fingerprint analysis determined that the murdered person was Muhammed Boduroğlu, who had a prior criminal record. In their investigation, police determined that the suspect had last been stopped by police in a taxi in Kocaeli province and had undergone a GBT (General Information Gathering) check. Using this clue, security cameras were examined, and the house the suspect last visited in Kocaeli was identified.
Allegedly, 41-year-old Muhammed Boduroğlu, who was skilled in computer work and known as a 'Hacker' in his circle, had met with several people in Kocaeli. It is believed that Muhammed B., who met them over the issue of opening a cryptocurrency wallet, was beaten and killed during an argument that broke out between them.
VICTIM'S PHONE FOUND ON SUSPECTS
While police work on the case continued, the mobile phone belonging to the deceased Muhammed Boduroğlu began to emit a signal with a different SIM card inserted. Following this lead, teams identified the people the individual had last spoken to one by one. The Murder Bureau teams detained 5 suspects they had identified in operations carried out in Istanbul, Kocaeli, and Elazığ. During the searches, a handgun and the mobile phone belonging to the murdered Muhammed Boduroğlu were seized.
ONE OF THE SUSPECTS DIED OF A HEART ATTACK
On the other hand, work by Murder Bureau detectives revealed that a suspect thought to have a direct connection to the incident had died of a heart attack on October 6.
The suspects Vedat T. (40), Gürbüz A. (47), Servet P. (44), Serkan Ü. (24), and Emrullah (49) were interrogated at the Public Security Branch Directorate. It was learned that the suspects said they knew the murdered Muhammed Boduroğlu but did not kill him. It was stated that the suspects, who were also learned to have prior criminal records, blamed each other in their statements.
CRYPTOCURRENCY PASSWORD
As a result of the police investigation, authorities are focusing on the possibility that Muhammed Boduroğlu, who was determined to be a hacker, was killed as a result of a fight that broke out over the sharing of cryptocurrency. The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the courthouse. It was stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
