CHP chairmanship candidate lawyer Muhammed Aybars Akdoğan speaks to 12punto: We have decided to boycott the convention!
CHP chairmanship candidate Atty. Muhammed Aybars Akdoğan stated that although there were 6 candidates for the 38th Ordinary Convention of the CHP, the election was presented as if there were only 2 candidates, which is why they are boycotting the election, and that they have invited Prof. Dr. Örsan Öymen along with İlhan Cihaner to join the boycott.

CHP chairmanship candidate Atty. Muhammed Aybars Akdoğan answered questions from 12punto.com.tr's Ercan Deniz Küçük at the Ankara Sports Hall, where the 38th Ordinary Convention was held.
Stating that there were 6 candidates in the election but it was presented as if there were only 2, and that they are boycotting the election for this reason, Akdoğan stated the following:
"AN ILLEGITIMATE AND UNFAIR PROCESS TOOK PLACE"
"If I were to talk about my expectations regarding the convention, we do not expect a fair and legitimate result. Because the convention was presented to the public and the delegates as a race between two candidates, but there were 6 candidates in this convention, and three of them worked actively but were completely ignored by the press. Therefore, since there was no fair propaganda process, a fair result will not emerge either. Consequently, we decided to boycott the convention. Because we would not have been able to go beyond being extras here. We also invited Örsan Öymen and İlhan Cihaner to this boycott. An illegitimate and unfair process took place."
"WE WILL NOT BE EXTRAS"
Stating that they applied to the CHP Headquarters but could not obtain delegate information, Akdoğan continued as follows:
"We did not apply to the delegates for signatures. Although we requested the contact information of the delegates from the CHP Headquarters, we did not receive any response. However, last week, a party member friend working on İlhan Cihaner's team gave me the contact information of the convention delegates. But we still did not ask them for signatures because this was not a fair process. We only told the delegates that we were boycotting and invited them to the boycott. We will not be extras in this process."
