Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, who has argued for years in his sermons that the Istanbul Convention should not be implemented, called on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to introduce Sharia law. Ünlü stated, "They say, 'Let the Istanbul Convention come back, otherwise women are dying'... What does that have to do with it? May God be pleased with Mr. Tayyip, he canceled it. Bring Sharia, bring it as a package."
