Deadly crash on the Northern Marmara Motorway! Many dead and injured
10 people died and 57 were injured in a 7-vehicle pile-up on the Northern Marmara Motorway in Sakarya. According to the latest statement, the number of injured has risen to 59. It was reported that 8 of the injured are in critical condition.

According to the information received, a chain-reaction accident involving 7 vehicles, including 3 buses and a truck, occurred for reasons yet to be determined on the Istanbul-bound section of the motorway near Dağdibi.
Transportation on the Istanbul-bound side of the motorway has come to a halt due to the accident.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF SAKARYA
Sakarya Governor Yaşar Karadeniz announced that according to initial information, 10 people died and 57 were injured, 7 of whom are in critical condition.
HOW DID THE ACCIDENT OCCUR?
Governor Karadeniz stated the following;
"Efforts to remove the vehicles and reopen the road are currently underway. The crime scene investigation team is working on how the accident occurred. It is estimated that the accident began when a car collided with a truck. According to initial findings, it is estimated that some of the fatalities may have occurred when another vehicle coming from behind struck pedestrians who had stepped out of their vehicles."
YILMAZ TUNÇ ANNOUNCED: 3 PROSECUTORS ASSIGNED
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, in his statement regarding the accident, shared the information that "An investigation has been initiated by the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the accident in Sakarya, and 3 public prosecutors have been assigned under the coordination of 1 deputy chief public prosecutor."
NUMBER OF INJURED RISES TO 59
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca announced that the number of injured has risen to 59.
The statement made by Koca on his X account is as follows;
"In the chain-reaction traffic accident that occurred this morning at 04.36 on the Sakarya Northern Marmara Motorway near Tekeler, 10 people lost their lives at the scene, and 59 people, 8 of whom are in critical condition, were injured. The injured were transported to hospitals by 30 ambulances.
We wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives and offer our condolences to their families. Everything necessary is being done for the recovery of the injured who are still receiving treatment."
