Details of the 'Palalı Sabri' murder have emerged

Sabri Çelebi, known as 'Palalı Sabri' for attacking protesters with a machete during the Gezi protests, lost his life following an armed attack in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district the night before last. Details regarding the incident have emerged.

AN EXCHANGE OF INSULTS OCCURRED

The details of the incident were revealed during the investigation conducted by the Homicide Bureau. According to information obtained by the police, the incident took place around 02:00 on Aydede Street in the Kocatepe neighborhood of the Beyoğlu district. Sabri Çelebi, along with two employees, N.D. (21) and M.A. (21), set off in a vehicle to head toward the workplace of an individual identified as C.K. (43). As Sabri Çelebi was about to get out of the vehicle, an exchange of insults occurred between him and two people, identified as Ç.G. (42) and H.K. (30), who worked at C.K.'s business.

Subsequently, they began to fight, throwing punches at each other. During the altercation, Ç.G. fired at Sabri Çelebi with a gun he was carrying. As a result of the gunfire, Sabri Çelebi and his employee N.D. were wounded. While the suspects fled the scene, Sabri Çelebi lost his life. The wounded N.D. was taken to the hospital.

8 PEOPLE APPREHENDED

Following the incident, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Homicide Bureau launched an investigation. Following their efforts, simultaneous operations were carried out at 11 different addresses across 7 districts. A total of 8 people were detained in the operations, including Ç.G. and H.K., who were identified as the perpetrators, the business owner C.K., and 5 other suspects determined to have been involved in the incident. During the searches, 2 licensed pistols, 1 blank-firing pistol, and 2 pump-action shotguns were seized.
