Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu, who won the Ovacık district of Tunceli in the 2014 local elections and was elected Mayor of Tunceli in 2019, was nominated as the Kadıköy Mayoral candidate for the March 31, 2024 local elections by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and the Federation of Socialist Assemblies.
Journalist Fatih Portakal reacted to Maçoğlu's Kadıköy candidacy.
HE CALLED THE VOTERS 'CONCON', REACTED TO MAÇOĞLU
Speaking on the main news bulletin he presents on Sözcü TV, Portakal used the following expressions:
“Will he go out to Bağdat Avenue, go to Feneryolu, and say, ‘Friends, we are going to make a revolution, come on, march against the revolution’? Or will he plant tomatoes in the gardens? Or will he ask for votes from people with slogans like ‘let’s produce collectively, let’s earn collectively’? The people there are ‘concon’ anyway, you know. You know Bağdat Avenue, Fenerbahçe. By ‘concon’, I mean the wealthy segment. Now, if Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu comes there, they will say, ‘Communist Mayor, okay, welcome,’ but okay, what are you going to do for them? What are you going to tell them? Are you going to talk about revolution? Or are you going to tell them, ‘Let’s produce, let’s earn’? Mr. Fatih, what are you going to tell the people in Feneryolu, Suadiye, and Kalamış?”
