Fire panic at a construction site in Ankara! Brought under control

A fire broke out for reasons yet to be determined on the 3rd floor of a residence under construction on Neşet Ertaş Street in the Yukarı Dikmen neighborhood. Upon notification, firefighting teams arrived at the scene and began efforts to extinguish the fire, which grew rapidly. Reinforcement teams were also dispatched to the area.

FIRE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL

The fire was brought under control as a result of work that lasted approximately 1 hour. Cooling efforts by the teams are ongoing. Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin arrived at the scene, received information from the authorities, and conducted inspections.

Later, responding to questions from journalists, Şahin stated that the fire, which occurred in the storage section of the construction site, had been brought under control.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR

Emphasizing that the firefighting teams intervened in the fire in a short time, Şahin spoke as follows:

"According to the information we have obtained as of now, the fire occurred in the area where construction materials, especially flammable plastic-based materials, were stored, and because of the nature of the plastic materials there, it caused significant alarm in the surroundings due to the very dense smoke it produced. Thank God, it was a fire that occurred only in the existing storage area; it has been brought under control. According to the information I received from the firefighting teams and those responsible for the construction, there are no findings regarding any injuries or loss of life. They expressed to me that they have determined that all workers are outside based on the current headcount. There is not the slightest injury among any of the firefighters or our working colleagues."

Upon a question regarding the cause of the fire, Governor Şahin said, "They have not fully determined it yet, but the point of origin is clear: it is in the storage area. I have not yet received information on how many workers were working. It is a large construction site; I think there is a certain number of workers above a certain amount. Cooling efforts are continuing. Afterward, determinations will be made according to the source of the fire and where it started."
