ATTACKED IN TRAFFIC

Center Party Chair Prof. Dr. Pelin Gündeş Bakır stated on her social media account: "While we were driving on the highway from Istanbul to Ankara, before reaching Kaynaşlı, the individual first harassed our vehicle in traffic. Then, when my husband gave way, the driver intentionally accelerated, swerved left to gain momentum, then swerved right back into us, hitting us with great force. I have an armed close protection order, but the Ministry of Interior is not implementing it. We are public figures. On Saturday, two warning shots were fired right next to our home. That is all I have to say!"

"THE INDIVIDUAL HAD A LONG CRIMINAL RECORD"

Prof. Dr. Pelin Gündeş Bakır stated that the individual was apprehended after the attack, adding, "The individual turned out to have a long criminal record."

Pelin Gündeş Bakır, a former Kayseri MP who was expelled from the AKP following her criticisms specifically regarding Syrians, had announced three years ago that she and her family were being threatened. Bakır had also appealed to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stating that her requests for protection were not being answered.
