Giant piece of city wall collapses during earthquake in Fatih: Disaster narrowly averted

Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Istanbul, damage was sustained by the city wall near the Topkapı Ulubatlı Metro Station.

A giant piece that broke off from the historic city wall struck the wire fencing nearby.

While the wire fencing was also damaged, the fact that no one was in the area at the time of the incident prevented a potential disaster.

Upon notification, municipal teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams took security measures in the area and launched an investigation.

Authorities warned citizens to be cautious against potential risks that may occur on the city wall. It was learned that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
