Halil Konakcı, who said 'We will go to Gaza at the forefront,' falls ill after being affected by tear gas during Israel protest
Imam Halil Konakcı, who frequently makes headlines for his anti-secular rhetoric and most recently claimed that 'Hatay is an Arab city' while defending its occupation, fell ill after being affected by tear gas during protests in front of the Israeli Consulate. Konakcı had previously stated, 'If our state commands it, I and Muslims like me who are committed to the Jerusalem cause will go to Gaza at the forefront.'

Imam Halil Konakcı, known for his anti-secular rhetoric, joined citizens in protests in front of the Israeli Consulate for the 500 civilians who lost their lives in Israel's attack on the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza.
Konakcı was affected by the pepper spray used by the police.
Making a statement on his X account following the incident, Konakcı said the following:
"We, the entire nation of Turkey, took to the streets to cry out against the hospital massacre committed by the accursed Israel and for our nation and state to rise up. Perhaps this will not be the last, and more will follow. However, we must be very careful about provocateurs who infiltrate our ranks and throw stones at the police. When the police were forced to use gas on these provocateurs, everyone sincere who was there was affected by the gas. I almost fainted from the gas. Let us not allow these provocateurs to cast a shadow over our righteous outcry."
