He shot 17-year-old Melek in the head on New Year's Eve: The murder suspect has been caught
In Istanbul, the murder suspect of 17-year-old Melek Nur Özgener, who was critically wounded after being shot in the head on New Year's Eve, has been caught. It was revealed that 31-year-old Ercan Ş., who was taken into custody, has a criminal record of 48 separate offenses. The suspect has been arrested.

The incident in Istanbul occurred around 00:16 on New Year's Eve in the Alikuşçu neighborhood of Fatih. 17-year-old Melek Nur Özgener met with her friends Nisa A. (17) and Ercan Ş. (31) to celebrate the New Year.
"SHOULD I SHOOT YOU OR YOU?"
According to allegations, while they were sitting inside the car, Ercan Ş. pulled out the gun he was carrying, pointed it at his two female friends, and said, "Should I shoot you? Or you?"
At that moment, Ercan Ş. pulled the trigger, shooting Özgener, who was sitting in the back seat, in the head. The suspect, overcome with fear, then left Özgener at the nearest hospital in his car and fled the scene.
SHE HELD ONTO LIFE FOR SIX DAYS
Melek Nur lost her life late the night before last at the hospital where she had been receiving treatment for 6 days. Following the incident, teams from the Public Security Branch Office's Murder Bureau launched an investigation to capture the fleeing suspect.
CAUGHT
The vehicle used by the suspect Ercan Ş. was found. Examinations conducted on the vehicle revealed 1 shell casing and 1 deformed bullet core. Investigations determined that the murder suspect was hiding in the Alibeyköy district of Eyüpsultan. In an operation carried out, the suspect Ercan Ş. was caught with a 9 mm pistol.
TURNED OUT TO BE A CAREER CRIMINAL
On the other hand, the criminal record of Ercan Ş., who was tried and released for a similar crime 4 years ago, turned out to be extensive according to police teams. The murder suspect, who has a record of 48 separate crimes, was arrested and sent to prison.
