New Istanbul Bar Association President Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaboğlu made a highly controversial statement. Kaboğlu argued that positive adjustments could be made to the immutable articles of the constitution.
Referring to past constitutional amendments, Kaboğlu stated that the changes made in 1995 and 2001 could be taken as examples.
POSITIVE CHANGES CAN BE MADE
Kaboğlu said, "Just as it was done in 1995, just as it was done in 2001, and just as the racist expressions in the preamble were removed in 1995, positive changes can be made to some articles of the constitution today as well."
