Identified via social media: Penalty for taxi driver who refused passengers
Following a social media post showing a taxi driver in Şişli refusing to take passengers, the driver, identified as K.Ö., was apprehended. His taxi operating license was suspended for 10 days. The driver was also fined 4,064 TL.

Following the sharing on social media of a video showing a taxi driver in front of the Şişli Trump AVM refusing to take a passenger to their desired destination, teams from the Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate launched an investigation and penalized the identified driver.
Due to the commercial taxi driver K.Ö.'s act of picking and choosing passengers, his taxi operating license was suspended for 10 days. A fine of 4,064 TL was imposed under Article Ek2/5 of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918 (transporting passengers within municipal boundaries despite the expiration of the operating permit/license issued under the scope of limitation or allocation by the relevant municipality within the framework of the Metropolitan Municipality Law and the Municipality Law).

According to social media posts by citizens who were refused by taxi drivers, it has been noted that taxi drivers in districts such as Sarıyer, Şişli, Taksim, Avcılar, and Esenyurt are picking and choosing customers, refusing to travel to long-distance areas when they do stop, and specifically in the Esenyurt region, only accepting passengers for short-distance trips.
