Social worker Kahraman Eroğlu was the guest on the '12'den' program, which is broadcast on the 12punto YouTube channel and hosted by veteran journalist Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu. Eroğlu spoke about the increasing substance addiction in Turkey.

Kahraman Eroğlu made striking statements, noting that drug use is on the rise across Turkey and that this problem has now spread to the most remote villages of Anatolia. Eroğlu highlighted the danger by sharing an incident he encountered at the television channels where he provides consultancy.

Eroğlu recounted a dialogue he had during a live broadcast when a father said he was trying to find cheap substances for his drug-addicted child:

"I asked him why he was doing this. The father said, 'What can I do, Kahraman Bey, there is nothing left in the house to sell.' He even threatened his child's mother that he would kill her if he didn't get this substance."

THE PROBLEM HAS NOW REACHED ANATOLIAN VILLAGES

Stating that families from different parts of Turkey call him for help on this issue, Eroğlu drew attention to one of the calls coming from the mountain villages of Erzincan and said the following:

"They ask, 'Kahraman Bey, our son has become addicted to substances, what can we do to save him?' Drug use has now spread even to villages in Anatolia."

THE DANGER COULD GROW

Eroğlu stated that the Ministry of Family and Social Services needs to make more effort to protect children. Pointing out the importance of providing expert support against drug addiction, Eroğlu said:

"If therapeutic work is not carried out by bringing them together with social workers, psychologists, pedagogues, or people who have received special training in this field, this situation will spiral out of control. After a while, as in some countries, death sentences could even be issued for these individuals. If it cannot be prevented, there could even be shoot-to-kill orders."

WE WON'T EVEN BE ABLE TO GO OUTSIDE

Stating that if the problem is not brought under control, security issues in society could increase significantly, Eroğlu issued the following warnings: "One day you won't be able to go outside. A thug who has used heavy substances will be lying in front of your door. If you touch him, he will harm you. Your spouse and child will be coming from behind, and they will be in fear. I have witnessed this many times. My wife and my home have been attacked many times."
