Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri in Istanbul, some citizens who did not want to return to their homes spent the night outside. In various parks in Fatih, some citizens stayed in tents they had set up, while others chose to sleep on mattresses they laid on the ground.
Some citizens were also seen sleeping inside their cars. In Yenibosna, Bahçelievler, some citizens spent the night trying to stay warm by gathering around fires they lit in the street.
Following the statement by the Istanbul Governorship, mosques, which were open for public use throughout the night, also became places that citizens chose for sleeping.
