Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made a reference to 'normalization' efforts following the arrest of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat. Kılıçdaroğlu stated, "If you believe in scorpions and normalize, those who should be held accountable will turn around and hold you accountable."
Drawing attention with the story of the scorpion and the frog, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "The moral of the story is, if you believe in scorpions, if you do not fight them, and if you normalize, those who should be held accountable will turn around and hold you accountable. And in the end, you drown in the middle of the river."
"I AM A SCORPION, IT IS MY NATURE"
Kılıçdaroğlu noted the following in the full message he sent after Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat was arrested and suspended from his post:
Dear friends, you all know the story of the scorpion and the frog. As you know, the scorpion, which does not know how to swim, stings and kills the frog that it convinced to carry it across, and in response says, 'I am a scorpion, it is my nature.' The moral of the story is, if you believe in scorpions, if you do not fight them, and if you normalize, those who should be held accountable will turn around and hold you accountable. And in the end, you drown in the middle of the river. Dear brothers and sisters, let us not forget that the darkest moment of the night is the moment closest to dawn. With the strength we draw from our foundation and liberation, no CHP member has the right to fall into despair or surrender to the darkness. Our fight for justice will continue.
