Minister Yerlikaya announced: 39 organized crime groups dismantled

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the details of the "Kafes-18 Operations" in a post on his X account.

Yerlikaya stated the following:

"Within the scope of the 'Kafes-18 Operation' carried out simultaneously in 37 of our provinces, a total of 39 organized crime structures were dismantled, including 9 national and local organized crime organizations and 30 criminal groups providing weapons and suitable materials to these organizations! 2,657 suspects, including the ringleaders of the organized crime groups, were apprehended!

It was determined that these organized crime groups; shot at workplaces to provide financing and weapons to the organization, extorted business people through threats and threatened them with weapons, engaged in arms trafficking and drug trafficking, carried out armed actions against each other following disputes among organization members over the sharing of proceeds from crime, engaged in usury with high interest rates under the guise of debt by using auto galleries, restaurants, and similar businesses as fronts and extorted individuals who could not pay their debts by threatening them with weapons, took over the security activities of entertainment venues through a private security company where organization members were placed, organized armed attacks against entertainment venues and operators that did not accept the so-called door security, engaged in illegal activities such as illegal factoring and check cashing, extorted business people at gunpoint under the guise of collecting aid for associations they supposedly established, and acted as armed debt collectors by intervening in debt disputes between third parties."
