Yerlikaya stated the following:

"Shaun Monaghan, the leader of an 'armed organized crime group' involved in drug trafficking in the North East region of England and wanted by the UK via an Interpol Red Notice, has been captured in Istanbul during the 'Kafes-16' operation.

CAPTURED IN FATIH, ISTANBUL

It was determined that Shaun Monaghan, the leader of an armed organized crime group who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice for the crimes of Drug Trafficking, Armed Assault, and Illegal Possession of Weapons/Ammunition, was living in Fatih, Istanbul. He was tracked by the Istanbul Narcotics Crimes, Intelligence, and Anti-Migrant Smuggling and Border Gates Branch Directorates and captured in the Kafes-16 operation.

It has been determined that the armed group led by Shaun Monaghan distributed large quantities of cocaine and heroin in the UK, committed crimes including illegal arms trafficking, armed assault, armed threats, and armed robbery, and that the organization possessed numerous long-barreled weapons and handguns, as well as ammunition.

Shaun Monaghan entered our country on 25.10.2023, a Red Notice was issued for him on 04.12.2023, and he was captured by our heroic police force within 1 day, on 05.12.2023, in a hotel in Fatih during the Kafes-16 operation."
