Minister Yerlikaya announces: Organized crime group dismantled in Istanbul

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the details of the "Kafes-17" operation via his X account.

Yerlikaya stated the following:

"The organized crime group known as the 'İskoçlar Gang' was dismantled in the 'Kafes-17 Operation,' which was carried out simultaneously in Istanbul, Tekirdağ, and Gaziantep. During the operation, 38 suspects, including the leader of the organization, were apprehended.

In the 'KAFES-17' operations conducted by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch Directorate against the organized crime group known as the 'İskoçlar Gang,' which established an organization for the purpose of committing crimes and engaged in the 'Production and Trafficking of Narcotic Substances' in Istanbul, Tekirdağ, and Gaziantep, 38 suspects, primarily the leader of the organization, were apprehended. 8 of them have been arrested. Proceedings for the others are ongoing.

Within the scope of the operations, 23 kg of cocaine, 95 kg of heroin, 165 kg of skunk, 15 kg of methamphetamine, 10,500 synthetic drug pills, pistols, and a large amount of gold, Turkish Lira, and foreign currency belonging to the organization were seized. According to initial assessments, all assets of the organized crime group, with an approximate value between 200-250 million TL, have been confiscated."
