Moments of the collapse of Ebrar Sitesi in the February 6 earthquakes revealed

New footage has emerged regarding the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş. The moment the Ebrar Sitesi, where 1,400 people lost their lives, collapsed and the moment one person escaped death by a 25-second margin were captured on camera.

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, at 04:17, with its epicenter in the Pazarcık district.

While numerous buildings were leveled, 9 hours and 7 minutes later, at 13:24, another earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 occurred, this time with its epicenter in Elbistan.

New footage from that night has emerged in Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the earthquakes in which, according to official figures, 53,237 people lost their lives and 107,213 people were injured.

The footage shows high-rise buildings being leveled and the dust clouds that formed after the destruction. The footage also captured moments of panic among people and their attempts to leave the city in their vehicles.

LIGHT EXPLOSIONS CAPTURED ON CAMERA

Light flashes that occurred as the earthquake began were also recorded by cameras. In the footage captured from the city's dominant hills, light flashes and power outages were seen along with the earthquake.

HOW EBRAR SITESI COLLAPSED

The moment of the collapse of Ebrar Sitesi, one of the symbols of the earthquake where 1,400 people lost their lives, was also recorded by cameras. In the footage, first Block D, and then Block C opposite it and other blocks collapsed, and a dust cloud covered the surroundings. The wreckage that appeared as the dust cloud dissipated revealed the destructive power of the earthquake. 

NARROW ESCAPE FROM DEATH

Another piece of footage was recorded on Azerbaijan Boulevard. A person in a market threw themselves outside 7 seconds after the earthquake began. In the continuation of the footage, the building where the market was located was leveled 25 seconds later.

Other footage shows a public bus and a semi-truck shaking, followed by the truck driver getting out of the vehicle and running away. The footage also includes an aftershock that occurred 11 minutes after the first earthquake, at 04:28, and earthquake survivors holding onto a lighting pole during this time.
