Details regarding the incident have become clear following a statement from the police and the emergence of mobile phone footage.
The incident occurred around 11:30 AM on Esnaf Loncası Street in the Ayvansaray neighborhood of Fatih.
44-year-old T.S.K., a transgender individual who operates the coffeehouse where the TV series 'Çukur' was filmed, shot and killed 34-year-old street vendor Ercan Çali, who sold prayer beads on the same street.
It was determined that the deceased, Ercan Çali, had a prior criminal record consisting of 22 entries for various offenses. The moment T.S.K. shot Ercan Çali with her weapon was captured in mobile phone footage that surfaced later.
During questioning, T.S.K. stated that she works at the coffeehouse at the same address and that they had constant arguments with the victim, who was a street vendor, because he would try to sell prayer beads to customers coming to the coffeehouse. She explained that on the day of the incident, they were arguing again when she pointed her pistol at him and fired. It was determined that T.S.K. had given the murder weapon to B.U., and that B.U. had hidden the weapon at the home of a friend, G.Ş. During searches conducted at the residence, two pistols were seized, and G.Ş. and B.U. were apprehended and taken into custody by police teams.
It was announced that the investigation into the incident on charges of "intentional homicide" is ongoing.
