Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will testify today (January 31) as part of an investigation launched over allegations of threatening Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek and his family, as well as targeting individuals involved in counter-terrorism efforts.
İmamoğlu, who will head to the Çağlayan Courthouse, will also provide testimony within the scope of an investigation conducted on allegations of 'attempting to influence those performing judicial duties by targeting expert witnesses in certain investigations.'
A song themed around justice has been written for IMM Mayor İmamoğlu.
The song, shared by the social media account 'İBBHaber', makes references to 'Yassıada', 'Zincirbozan', and 'Pınarhisar'.
While Yassıada is synonymous with the trial and execution of Turkey's former Prime Minister Adnan Menderes and his colleagues, 'Zincirbozan' refers to the period when Süleyman Demirel and Bülent Ecevit were under house arrest.
‘Pınarhisar’ is the district where AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spent four months in prison in 1999.
