In the wake of the scandal, the owner of Köfteci Yusuf, Yusuf Akkaş, made a striking statement. Akkaş said, "If I were a foreign company in this country or had political connections, they wouldn't be able to touch me. They portray us as if we are powerful, but if I were that powerful, they wouldn't even have taken a sample."
Following these statements by Yusuf Akkaş, world-renowned restaurant owner Nusret Gökçe made a reference to the matter in a video he posted on his social media account.
