Police blockade at Şişli Municipality following appointment of trustee: New message from Resul Emrah Şahan

Şişli District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen has been appointed as a trustee to replace Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who was arrested as part of an investigation into the 'urban consensus' (kent uzlaşısı). CHP's Ali Mahir Başarır announced that over a thousand police officers arrived at the municipality in the early hours of the morning.

Following the decision to arrest Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan as part of an investigation into the 'urban consensus', the Ministry of Interior has appointed a trustee to the municipality.

Şişli District Governor Cevdet Ertürkmen has been brought in to replace Şahan.

CHP's Ali Mahir Başarır announced that as of 04:30, over a thousand police officers had arrived at Şişli Municipality. Başarır added that the trustee administration would arrive at 09:00.

Meanwhile, as police blocked the front of the municipality with barriers, employees were not allowed inside.

It was learned that municipal employees would be allowed inside after 08:00.

THE TRUSTEE'S FIRST DEMAND

On the other hand, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır stated that the newly appointed trustee for Şişli demanded that the elected Municipal Council Members leave the municipality.

Ali Mahir Başarır's post is as follows:

''The appointed trustee has asked the elected Şişli Municipal Council Members to leave the municipality! The only person who should leave that place is you, trustee district governor!''

NEW MESSAGE FROM RESUL EMRAH ŞAHAN

Meanwhile, a new message has arrived from the detained Resul Emrah Şahan, who has been replaced by a trustee.

The post made from Şahan's X account stated, "Dear People of Şişli, our Şişli Municipality was blockaded by law enforcement officers around 05:00 this morning. Everyone should know that Şişli Municipality belongs to you. I call out to all the conscientious citizens of our city: Protect our municipality, our will, and our future. I emphasize once again: We are right, we will win!"

LATEST SITUATION AT ŞİŞLİ MUNICIPALITY

Employees were allowed to enter Şişli Municipality, which had been under a police blockade.

The police did not allow the CHP municipal council members to enter the building. After a brief period of tension, the council members entered the building.
