The arrest and suspension of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained in a dawn operation on March 19, has increased protest demonstrations across the country.

Footage recorded in Saraçhane, which has become the center of the protests, has become a trending topic on social media.

Late last night, police intervened against protesters in the square by using pepper spray and violence.
