The series 'Şakir Paşa Ailesi: Mucizeler ve Skandallar', which airs on NOW TV and focuses on the Committee of Union and Progress era, has sparked controversy on social media. Some accounts on the X platform reacted to the show, claiming that the dialogue in the series encourages youth to rebel against the government.
The debate began after the following lines from a scene in the series were shared:
“Is this what you call opposition? Groups that are all out of tune with each other… Their only common ground is their opposition to the Committee of Union and Progress. If they came to power, they would be no different from them.”
“I feel sorry for the youth; they have turned into old men… The only thing they see when they look at the future is darkness.”
“The youth don't even care about the country. Their only concern is to get to Europe.”
Some users who shared the scene in question argued that the series contains political messages and called for complaints to be filed with RTÜK. Fans of the series, however, opposed the criticism, stating that the production covers historical events and does not contain any such call to action.
